Asking Congress to reject cuts in imaging services under Medicare
Toms River-area patients, physicians, advocacy groups, and community leaders, in partnership with the Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC), are calling on Congress to reject Medicare cuts proposed by the Obama Administration that would severely limit patient access to diagnostic imaging services.
In New Jersey, where residents are already challenged with the sixth highest annual incidence rate of cancer (499.8/100,000), and particularly Ocean County which has the third highest incidence rate in the state (557/100,000), restricting access to diagnostic imaging scans threatens to reverse significant progress made in treating deadly diseases.
