Freeholder Ian Leonard gives an update
Camden County has gotten a head start in preparing for the weekend storm that forecasters are calling a Nor’easter. Our trucks are ready to roll and this morning at 9 a.m. Public Works managers and employees gathered for a meeting at the Emergency Command Center in Lindenwold. Trucks will be loaded with salt to pre-treat the roads and then go back over them during and after the storm. I’ll be out around the County myself, riding with the crews and checking the roads.
Lines will be open for residents to call with reports of problems on County roads in their neighborhood that need work. And the County website, www.camdencounty.com, will have updates throughout the storm and a map of all county roads.
With large amounts of snow expected—anywhere between six and 12 inches as of today’s forecast—drivers are advised to be cautious and residents should avoid driving at all if they can. The Public Works Department will ensure that roads will be passable through the storm, although motorists are advised to drive slowly and carefully. The storm is expected to begin late this afternoon and continue into Saturday.
