A sixth state – Arizona – now has declared that guns made and kept inside its borders essentially are free from federal application, registration and ownership regulations in a surging movement among states that one supporter describes as a direct challenge to "a government monopoly on the supply of firearms."

Gov. Jan Brewer this week signed the state's version of a "Firearms Freedom Act," which originated in Montana and now has been adopted by six states, with several dozen more in various stages of their own plans.

When a town in Iowa seeks to rename Good Friday "Spring Holiday," you know America has problems.

Those of us who affirm the Judeo-Christian values that have constituted the basis of America's values since before the founding of the United States expect such things on the two coasts. The West Coast and the East Coast (at least down to Virginia) have largely abandoned the God-based morality of the Declaration of Independence and all the Founders.

 Flight surgeon questioning Obama rejects Army's suggestion of 'help'

A U.S. Army flight surgeon who posted a video indicating his complete rejection of all orders from the military unless Barack Obama documents his eligibility to occupy the Oval Office is now refusing an "unofficial" suggestion from the Army for a medical evaluation.

WND reported this week the Army was hinting that Lt. Col Terry Lakin should undergo a brain scan and medical review.

A spokeswoman involved with the developing case said the recommendation was delivered to Lakin by an unnamed officer who implied those higher up the chain of command thought it was a good idea.

Ed and Liz DosReis went there last summer to view the body of their son, a U.S. Air Force sergeant who died in an automobile accident while driving to his job with security forces at the U.S. air base at Aviano in northeastern Italy.

The state Board of Public Utilities is putting up $2.4 million in the hope that it can help improve a segment of the economy with a one-time subsidy for consumers. Anyone buying the right refrigerator, clothes washer or dishwashercan get a rebate as small as $25 or as large as $100.

It’s Important to Participate in the Census

Dear Neighbor,

By now,  you should have received your 2010 U.S. Census questionnaire.  Participating in the census is not only the law, it is also vital to many of the services we take advantage of every day.  

The federal government uses the information you provide to determine how $400 billion in funding for schools, hospitals, senior citizens centers, job training programs and public works projects gets divided.  Your responses to the 10 simple questions on the census form will go a long way toward determining what resources our area will receive in the future.  Countless decisions are made based upon census data such as population, ethnic background and age.

The new census questionnaire is shorter and simpler to fill out than those distributed in previous census surveys.  The packet mailed to your home also contains a postage paid return envelope, so there is no reason not to participate.

Since the U.S. Census only takes place every ten years, it will be another decade before we will be given the next opportunity to be accurately represented.

I encourage each of you to take the time to fill out the survey in order for us to convey a true portrayal of Camden County and its residents.  A link to information on the 2010 Census can be found at www.camdencounty.com.

The Internal Revenue Service would gain sweeping new powers under President Obama's healthcare reform proposals, in what Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee are calling a "dangerous expansion" of IRS powers.

That's according to a nine-page Republican report from the Committee on Ways and Means on Thursday. It's titled "The Wrong Prescription" Democrats' Health Overhaul Dangerously Expands IRS Authority."

Leading up to today's "National Coffee Party Day" – the countrywide launch of a leftwing movement meant as an answer to the tea parties – a CNN article asked, "Will the Coffee Party rise to the scale of the Tea Party movement? Saturday is the first big test."

If "scale" is indeed the measure by which the Coffee Party will be graded, however, today's cup-o'-Joe kickoff has earned a resounding "F."
