GMAC National Drivers Test speaks volumes: N.J. drivers rank among the worst

The results are in. According to the 2010 National Drivers Test, 38 million licensed Americans would not pass a written drivers examination if it were administered today. This amounts to nearly 20 percent of the drivers currently on the road, and it begs the obvious question: How did the other 80 percent get through the traffic in time to take the test?

This survey polled over 5,200 licensed Americans from the fifty states and the District of Columbia, and used twenty questions taken from state Department of Motor Vehicle exams. Finishing first in the nation with a very impressive average test score of 82.3 percent was Kansas.

N.J. tax assessment experiments fail to deliver a better way

There appears to be no end to bad ideas, no matter how well intentioned. One such bad idea was endorsed by [Bergen] Record Columnist James Ahearn ("Shifting local task to county," Feb. 21), a three-year pilot program in Gloucester County that would eliminate municipal tax assessors in favor of a county-based assessor's office.

Ahearn's support for the Gloucester experiment was explained this way: "New Jersey's homeowners have been complaining for years about their property taxes... In Gloucester County, officials are getting ready to do something about them."

Can Arizona get away with this? Only if the cops don't act like Gestapo but a few will and the whole concept will go down the toilet. Still the law is too controversial to stand because it steps on a lot of toes and potentially can and will violate the civil rights of many people. It should be repealed.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, Pataki said he is launching the effort because the recent healthcare plan signed into law by President Barack Obama imposes the heavy hand of the federal government into the healthcare decisions of all Americans, contrary to the great traditions of the United States.

The popular conservative Republican who was thrice elected to the Empire State’s governorship, has just launched a new organization, RevereAmerica.org, a group Pataki says is aimed at promoting American traditions such as personal freedom and free enterprise.

Why a Town in Iowa Sought to Abolish Good Friday

When a town in Iowa seeks to rename Good Friday "Spring Holiday," you know America has problems.

Those of us who affirm the Judeo-Christian values that have constituted the basis of America's values since before the founding of the United States expect such things on the two coasts. The West Coast and the East Coast (at least down to Virginia) have largely abandoned the God-based morality of the Declaration of Independence and all the Founders.
